From director Guy Ritchie (Rocknrolla, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) comes an all-new take on the classic master detective Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. Renowned “consulting detective” Sherlock Holmes (Downey Jr.–Iron Man) has a reputation for solving the most complex mysteries. With the aid of his trusted ally Dr. John Watson (Law–The Aviator), Holmes is unequaled in his pursuit of criminals, relying on his singular powers of observation, his remarkable deductive skills — and the blunt force of his fists. But now a threat unlike anything Holmes has ever confronted threatens London … and it’s just the challenge he’s looking for.

By far my favorite rendition of the classic, and before any brit bongs come in bellow yelling "WhAt AbOuT BeNEdiCt CUmberBatch iN ShErLock" there are issues that I have with Sherlock and a lot of them are with Benedict. First off he's supposed to come off as distant, I understand that on an intellectual level, but for me, he didn't, he came off as more of a forced distance (in an acting sort of way) and really wasn't distant by nature. Second, he felt far more neurotic than RDJ, while I recognize that's how Sherlock is portrayed in modern film and television it felt a little over the top. Finally, the last one has nothing to do with Benedict which is Sherlock in the modern setting, in Sherlock the use of the internet seemed like less of part of the deductive reasoning process and more of how modern investigations use it.

By far the funniest Sherlock Holmes adaption. Funny, witty, and fascinating. It's so great how the characters bounce of each other, and how childish and petty Holmes and Watson are with each other. One of my favourite movies ever. Five stars.

when blackwood gets it at the end, makes you wonder if there was some devilish or divine intervention. An Ironic death maybe, but still makes you wonder.

Irene was in the books and old TV show but her name was Iriana.

I love the movie. However Holmes should't be well known. He shouldn't work with the police. The old TV show and books are very different. even though there is a large difference both are awesome.

why is it that this movie is mostly violence. its supposed to be a mystery movie. its supposed to have twists to the plot. not violence for 7/8 of the movie.

WHY EVERYONE HATES SHERLOCK HOLMESThe original character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been liked by everyone because he was a gentleman, an aristocrat. But every new character variation based on Sherlock, like the BBC's Sherlock, Robert Downey Jr's presentation, Gregory House M.D., Elementry, Monk, & most other "detective" characters modelled after Sherlock is irritating, obnoxious, self-centered to the point of narcissism or even sociopathy. So no. Most such characters, if real & living, would be alienated, lonely, & most likely loathed.

What's the one thing you don't do at a crime scene? Disturb it before the techs/officers get there.
