I heard somewhere that Radio Silence has asexual rep, is that true or just implied?

I just wanted to say you are pretty dang awesome and one of my favorite booktubers. Just wanted you to know…

  4. Melissa Veras says:

Oh I'm so glad to hear talk like that about Crooked Kingdom, because I felt the same way about Six of Crows and was a little nervous about CK.

My favorite book of the year was The Heart’s Invisible Furies by John Boyne which I think you’d really love Cece. It’s a queer story and is just so meaningful.

  6. Heather says:

Radio Silence was also one of my favorite books in 2018. The relationship between Aled and Frances is the closest I’ve ever seen to me and one of my best friends. We definitely need to see more platonic soulmates. Also Aled saying “I’m demisexual” in page made me cry

I haven't even watched the video yet, but I saw the #hockey thing under the video and was so happy you liked it! I got that book and read it all in one day, it was soo good! I haven't heard what you said about it yet, but I'm excited to see! 😀

I didn't read near as much as I wanted to in 2018, but the two books that stand out most for me were definitely 'anger is a gift' by Mark Oshiro, and almost moreso 'dreadnought' by April Daniels, currently I'm reading and loving 'an absolutely remarkable thing' by Hank Green

  9. Taasia T says:

My guesses: Radio Silence, Evelyn Hugo, Homegoing, In An Absent Dream, Crooked Kingdom, Beneath the Sugar Sky and that's about it

  10. FMsukina says:

Regarding "I Was Born for This", did you say "hijabi" main character? If so, what does that mean? Is that someone who wears a hijab? Not a term I'm familiar with, but maybe I misheard :S

It's so cool that you edited a book! It's my dream to be an editor. The passion you have for these books is contagious!

  12. theo says:

what a lot of these seem to have in common is that they focus a lot on characters and have a very strong element of introspection which i think says a lot about the sort of books that you enjoy? and it's in general a very good indicator of an amazing story, because that means it's more human. i have no idea where i'm going with this, but just know that i want to read all of these that i haven't already and that i trust your judgement a lot when it comes to the media you enjoy, because it is so close to my own.

  13. Ben Greenleaf says:

My favourite books I read last year have got to be the first three in The Raven Cycle! I still have The Raven King waiting for me but I'm scared and like I don't want it to end

  14. HeyMarysh says:

Do you listen to The Adventure Zone? I feel like you might enjoy it (their Balance story in particular, since that’s all I’ve listened to so far) re: relationships making people stronger 🙂

  15. Roo's Reviews says:

hasn't read any of these. Hangs head in shame

  16. ImagesonthePage says:

Congrats on getting to edit!!! Can I ask which publisher you edited with? Is it a more freelance thing?

  17. Rajesh Art says:

All those book I want to read.

  18. Jenica Dawn says:

I really need to read Radio Silence! And I can't wait to pick up Mason's book this year.

Homegoing is on my list as well! My top three were Next Year in Havana, The Poet X, and Homegoing. I think. I'm still sorting out the order for sure. Haha

  19. Captain Book says:

    i love your list

  20. Tessa Armstrong says:

In none of the other descriptions of Darius I’ve seen has Star Trek been mentioned and now I will absolutely be reading it.

  21. KappaBooks says:

My guess is Darius the Great is your #1 book

  22. LNL13 says:

I have definitely said this in another comment on another video, but Alice Oseman’s Heartstopper comic is pretty great (Aled and the others show up) and it’s cute and queer af! 😀 I recommend it! (it is being published formally in Feb/March, too, but you can check it out on Tumblr on heartstoppercomic)

  23. Megan Castle says:

This video made me cry. It's so full of emotion and passion. I wish more booktubers talked about books like you do here. Hearing you talk about those books- the ones that saved you, that come just when you need them, the books that just get it- made me feel the need to read them. Thank you, Cece.

  24. Owl of YarnOwlReads says:

For 2019 releases I think one will be Mason Deaver’s book and the other might be the new Wayward Children book. Otherwise, I’m betting on Evelyn Hugo getting the top spot. ^_^

  25. Christina.r says:

I just read girls of snow and glass, one from your A-Z video. It was so good, I loved the back and forth of the two stories and why at the end things had to happen.

  26. RMT B. says:

    Evelyn Hugo and Crooked Kingdom

Edit: YES I GOT THEM RIGHT!!!

  27. Alessandra says:

2018 was a really good reading year for me, not for the amount of books I've read but because I finally started reading the books I actually wanna read. I don't know why but I have the tendency to put off reading the books that I think I could end up really loving. Instead in 2018 I tried to push myself in the right direction and I've never been more satisfied. Also, I'm happy to see that most of my faves also ended up on your list!

  28. KirstenIsANerd says:

My favorite books this year have basically been the whole Wayward Children series, Dusk or Dark or Dawn or Day by Seanan McGuire, The Raven Boys, The Ocean at the End of the Lane by Neil Gaiman, and City of Ghosts by Victoria Schwab

  29. RetRead Podcast says:

As a fan of heists, have you watched the movie "Widows"?

  30. Chloe Green says:

I felt exactly the same about SoC duology!! I didn't really like Six of Crows but I love, love, LOVED Crooked Kingdom so much.

  31. Girl About Library says:

SO many great books on this list. Added "Radio Silence" to my holds list at the library. It has been included on tons of favorites of 2018 lists, and it sounds amazing!

  32. Laurin Christian says:

    Crooked Kingdom
The seven Husband of Evelyn Hugo
    Wild Beauty
    Beneath the Sugar Sky
    Autoboyagraphy
    Vengeful
Spell book of the Lost and Found
    Check please
    Children of blood and bone

Ugh that’s all I can think of at the moment and I’m pretty sure half of those were read last year! Damn my memory

  33. A Reader in Time says:

Ooh The Poison Within sounds really interesting and congrats on being an editor for it too! Being a book editor is a dream job of mine 🙂
